"Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Rapport Brundtland
How can we meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs?
This question also arises at the level of companies, and particularly extractive companies, which exist because they supply substances that are necessary but not renewable on a human scale.
Provençale has undertaken a process to take into account the objectives of economic efficiency, social equity and environmental preservation – the three pillars of sustainable development.
This concerns all the company’s employees, and everyone can take action in this direction.
To improve internal communication, a register will shortly be set up in each department, where everyone can report their observations, requests for improvement or proposals in the technical, safety, quality and environmental fields.
These registers will be analyzed by the site manager every quarter for action. These records will not concern urgent interventions, especially in the field of safety. All energy-saving initiatives are welcome.
Catherine DELFAUX
For many years, we have been a major player in the European calcium carbonate market, both in terms of the quality of our deposits and their geographical location, and in terms of sales volume.
To maintain these positions, while optimizing the use of the natural resources that underpin our business and minimizing its environmental impact, we aim to ensure the satisfaction of our current and potential customers by detecting their needs as early as possible, disseminating information to all the departments concerned, having the right deposits and industrial equipment to meet these needs, providing the right quality of service and maintaining our responsiveness.
The industrial competition we face, the regulatory constraints associated with quarrying, and the integration of the notion of sustainable development into our activities mean that we are constantly evolving.Being competitive in all areas is a requirement; satisfying our customers in every respect is a necessity; ensuring our long-term viability is a duty to our partners; complying with current regulations is a commitment; and taking the environment into account is our responsibility towards the natural environment and the general public.
Quality is the essential factor that enables us to sustain our reputation with our customers and win new markets, and environmental awareness is the essential value that we cultivate to reduce the impact of our activities and demonstrate our awareness of the concerns of local residents, public authorities and customers.Everyone’s commitment to this approach is essential to our success, and I am committed to putting in place the resources needed to ensure that the legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our products are respected, and to constantly improving the efficiency of our quality system.
Customer satisfaction and concern for the environment are the values our company strives to embrace.
Provençale SA extracts calcium carbonate to produce mineral fillers mainly used in the design of plastics and paints. Our Espira de l’Agly plant offers a varied range of white products for a wide variety of uses.
The quality-environment system enables us to capitalize on our experience to enhance customer satisfaction and continuously improve our environmental and quality performance.
This system is part of our commitment to sustainable development, reconciling economic and social development, environmental protection and the preservation of natural resources.
Our objectives cannot be achieved:
The quality-environment system enables us to capitalize on our experience to increase customer satisfaction and continuously improve our environmental and quality performance.
